Content Independence Day

Hi there.
…Where has the rainy season gone?

It’s been so hot that I’m starting to doubt whether the active memories I have of this time of year are even real. On sunny lunch breaks at school, I used to catch lizards near the chicken coop, and when it was cloudy or rainy, I’d search for geckos in the gap behind the gym’s fire door. Those memories are really mine… right? (´・ω・`;)

Japanese summer is only going to get hotter from here. And just like a cumulonimbus cloud rapidly swelling in the sky, these fast-developing headlines keep me buzzing with excitement.

Content Independence Day: no AI crawl without compensation! https://blog.cloudflare.com/content-independence-day-no-ai-crawl-without-compensation/

On July 1st, U.S.-based company Cloudflare announced a policy to block AI crawler bots from accessing websites unless they provide compensation to creators.
This measure has also been extended to users on the company’s free plan, and the initiative has been dubbed “Content Independence Day.”

I was deeply moved, so I create it in a traditional Japanese lettering and ukiyo-e style.
Turning 77“七七歳” is called Kiju“喜寿” in Japan, which comes from the variant character 㐂 used for “joy” (喜).
So, This time, I chose the phonetic kanji “喜一” as a poetic rendering of July 1st“一日”. For us as website designers and content creators, it’s truly a joyful day!

betta -BabyDragon-

Hi!
I drew a betta fish again for the first time in a while. In kanji, it’s written as 闘魚 (fighting fish).

However, this time it’s subtly dragonized, so I’m calling it “闘龍魚” (betta -BabyDragon-).
Bettas are regularly stocked in aquarium shops, often lined up in tiny tanks in large numbers.
The ones with long fins are males, and as the name suggests, they are highly territorial toward others of the same species. Their display of flaring—spreading their fins to intimidate rivals—is one of their most beautiful behaviors.

Hello!

I painted Summon: Anima Magic: The Gathering®—FINAL FANTASY™ Borderless Art!

The iconic summon of Final Fantasy X, isn’t it?

I’ll be mindful of spoilers since some might be experiencing the game for the first time, but this Summon’s deep backbone truly embodies how Japanese games naturally found their place in the global gaming scene.

I put everything into this piece, hoping that longtime MtG fans, Final Fantasy series fans, and those discovering it for the first time will feel compelled to own this card.
I sincerely thank Square Enix and Wizards of the Coast for giving me this incredible opportunity.
