Re;START

Hi there.
This site is now ActivityPub compliant.
It’s been a while since I’ve coded to organize the outdated information on the site, but my hands remember surprisingly well.
However, since I was working on a laptop with US layout that was given to me by Intel, the keys in my old memory were not in the same place, and I made a lot of typos there…you know. Human memory is a terrible thing.
I hope you like to read it as much as you like, because it is not so different from FANBOX in terms of updated contents.
Long live the Fediverse!

Tiger vs Dragon fighting with Japanese sparklers.

Hello there.
August 31st. Summer is ending.
…Or so they say.
Some forecasts claim it’ll stay hot until October, and apparently, we’re shifting from four seasons to just two.

Still, the tradition of wrapping up summer illustrations by the end of August is alive and well.
I’ve long since developed a sentimental attachment to sparklers, but when did that start?

Back in my early 20s, I was goofing around with my hometown friends, bundling together ten Japanese sparklers and lighting them at once—back then, it didn’t feel like much.
Now? That’s a cherished memory. (A sign of my old-man transformation.)

How to play with Japanese sparklers.
When you buy a fireworks set in Japan, Japanese sparklers are included in the set.

Japanese sparklers are usually played last.
After you light it, it burns for a while like this artwork.
After a while, the center part of the sparkler, which is the brightest part, drops off.

You are lucky if it burns for a long time.

That moment when you step outside, the night breeze stops, and suddenly—
I notice the lingering smell of smoke on myself.

Popsicle stick and Dragon

Hello there!
This summer, stepping outside and saying anything other than “It’s hot” feels like a difficulty level +50 challenge.
“Will it cool down a bit after the typhoon?”
Nope, no chance.
Where did Japan’s summer even go…?

I need to feel the chill ASAP!

So, I decided to draw a dragon eating Popsicle stick.
I think this is actually the most summery artwork I’ve ever created!
From now on, I’d like to make more pieces like this, focusing a bit on everyday life.

PHOENIGON x STAG BEETLE x DINOSAUR

I was inspired by the large, double-pronged horns of the Noko Kuwagata (Japanese stag beetle), so you’ll see a lot of branching and twisting throughout the design.
Also, if you’re of the same kind as me, you’ll probably recognize that I added a bit of feathered dinosaur influence.

Ancient Creatures and Cats

Edo-period ukiyo-e **never featured dinosaurs or paleontology-related subjects**.Even the **brilliant, eccentric ukiyo-e artists** couldn’t conceive of anything from **160 million years ago**—it was simply outside the realm of their imagination.
But depending on how you look at it, this means we’re in a unique position to “re-experience” what they must have felt.
It’s like when they heard rumors that “There’s a giant striped cat on the continent!” and painted tigers based on that vague idea.
Now, I get to do the same—but with dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures.
While working on this, I found myself wanting to explore more subjects like this.

The Struggles of Making a Timelapse

I’ve always known this kind of artwork takes an immense amount of patience,
but every time I attempt to make a process video, even I find myself a little overwhelmed.
Procreate’s timelapse export records absolutely everything—
layer visibility, opacity adjustments, redo/undo actions—so it results in a flashing, chaotic mess of a video.
Naturally, since this piece required me to push my creative boundaries, the number of recorded actions was absurd.

THUNDER DRAGON⚡️

Hello there!
This artwork is a Skeb commission.
Apparently, it’s going to be turned into a mobile battery!

I painted the background with a touch of elegance.

Making of Timelapse
Dragons are the best!!
I feel a bit sad now that it’s finished.
That’s all for now!
