In this Artwork, I drew a lot of citrus fruits. Last year, the summer was brutally hot, and there was no season that could be called autumn. The other day, Obihiro experienced the heaviest snowfall on record, and the four seasons have become completely mixed up.

So, I created a drawing that might happen someday. There is a citrus fruit called “獅子柚子(Citrus pseudogulgul)”, a type of pomelo, growing in my neighborhood, and I thought “What the heck is this?” when I saw it.

It has a very rugged shape! (It is mainly used for decoration as a talisman, but if eaten, it is made into jam)

Kantei-ryu lettering and caterpillar

The kanji character “凸(protrusion)” is listed in the Kantei-ryu Dictionary. Amazing, right? When I saw this character as a student, I thought it was a joke.

The characters “檸檬 (Lemon) ” and “獅子(Lion)” were not listed, so I created them based on nuance. “無断利用禁止(Do not use repost and reuse)”and “仁義を切れ(respect the code of honor)” are message to the rogues of the Techno Feudalist and swallowtail butterflies.

For me, butterflies are a subject I wanted to create in 3D CG, and although I modeled them, I couldn’t quite create the animation well, so they were shelved (00s computer graphics major student talks).

In Illustration, I think there are people who want to create a specimen-like design object feel and those who want to express the living aspect of the creature. If he is　alive, The wings looks like fighter jets.

When I use butterflies in my illustration and design, I tweak the form slightly to give a different impression.

Summary

It took quite a while to complete this drawing, but I managed to meet my New Year’s resolution of creating a new work every month this month as well.
I enjoyed drawing this work with a feeling of challenging myself to everything from line drawing to coloring, character creation, and caterpillars, as my creative motivation was on the rise.
